10 Steps to Add Gmail to Outlook
1.) Sign in to your Gmail account and click on the Gear icon located on the top-right corner of your Gmail window. A drop-down menu will open up.
2.) From the drop-down menu, click on the Settings option. A new window will open on the screen.
3.) Under the Settings window, locate and click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. In this tab, make sure that IMAP is activated. If it is not, do so and click on the Save changes button.
4.) Now, open Outlook on your Desktop and click on the File tab located on the top-left corner of your screen. Next, click Add Account option located just above the Account Settings option.
5.) Then, choose Manual setup or additional server types option and click Next. After that, select POP or IMAP and click on the Next button.
6.) On the next page, enter user information. For server information, enter the following information.
- Account type: IMAP
- Incoming mail server:gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP):gmail.com
7.) Next, provide your information under Login information and go to More settings.
8.) Under More settings, select Outgoing server tab and select check box next to
- My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
- Use same settings as my incoming mail server
9.) After that, in the same window, click on the Advanced tab and verify the information for following. Click Ok when finished.
- Incoming server (IMAP): 993 or 143
- Incoming server encrypted connection: SSL
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 25 or 465
- Outgoing server encrypted connection: TLS
10.) Click on the Next button, a Test Account Settings window will pop up. If you would have entered each information correctly, you will see Completed Status next to both options:
- Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP)
- Send test e-mail message
Finally, click on the Next button and then on the Finish button. Your Gmail account will be added to the Outlook successfully.
Note – Some version of outlook might have different feature but you can easily add Gmail to outlook by following these configuration options.
