Configure Cox email forwarding to your Gmail account

Having multiple email accounts can be a bit troublesome in managing them. If you have a Cox email account as well as accounts from other email service providers, you may want to make the emails from your Cox email account get forwarded to another email account like Gmail automatically. To know how you can configure Cox email forwarding to your Gmail account, follow the instructions provided below.

Guide to Configure Cox Email Forwarding to Gmail Account

There are two ways that you can auto-forward emails from your Cox email account to your Gmail account. While the first method involves setting up your Cox Email account, the second method requires you to make changes to the settings in your Gmail account.

METHOD 1: Setting Up Cox Email Account

  1. To begin with, you will first need to open the webmail inbox of your Cox email account.
  2. Once you are logged in, you will need to click on the Settings option. This will display the Message Settings window on your screen.
  3. In the Message Settings window, you will need to select the Forwarding option. This will display the Forwarding window on your screen.
  4. In the Forwarding window, you will need to go to the Forwarding Address section and enter the email address of your Gmail or any other email account where you wish to forward emails to.
  5. After that, select an option under the Forwarding Rules window, and press the OK button to complete the auto-forwarding set up.

METHOD 2: Settings Up Your Gmail Account

  1. Open a web browser on your computer and sign in to your Gmail account in which you wish to set up auto-forwarding of emails for your Cox email account.
  2. Once you are logged into your Gmail account, you will need to click on the Settings option (Gear Wheel icon) located in the upper-right corner of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu on your screen.
  3. From the drop-down menu that appears on your screen, you will need to select the See all settings option. This will direct you to the settings section of your Gmail account on the next screen.
  4. In the Settings section of your Gmail account, you will need to click on the Accounts and Import option located in the upper menu section.
  5. Under the Accounts and Import tab, you will need to go to the Check mail from other accounts section by scrolling down and click on the Add a mail account option under it. This will open a small window on your screen.
  6. In the window that appears on your screen, you will need to enter the email address of your Cox email account and press the Next button. You will be directed to the next screen.
  7. On the next screen, you will need to select the Import email from my other account (POP3) option.

NOTE: By default, you are most likely to find the Import emails from my other account (POP3) selected instead of Link accounts with Gmailify option. This is because Gmailify is not compatible with certain email services including Cox email. If the Gmailify option would have been available for Cox email, you would have been able to keep both email addresses and would have been able to manage emails from both using your Gmail inbox.

8) After that, you will need to press the Next button. Doing so will direct you to the next screen where you will need to provide information such as your Username, Password, POP Server, and Port.

NOTE: Some of the information will be pre-populated. You are suggested to leave them unchanged.

9) Once you are done providing the information for the required fields, you will need to select the checkbox next to the following options on your screen as per your preference.

  • Leave a copy of the retrieved message on the server
  • Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.
  • Label incoming messages (choose from the drop-down menu).
  • Archive incoming messages (Skip the Inbox)

10) Once you have selected the checkbox next to the desired options, you will need to click on the Add Account button. This will direct you to the next screen. On the next screen, you are most likely to be prompted to allow Gmail access to your Cox email accounts emails, contacts, and other features. After you would have provided the permission, you will need to follow the on-screen prompts to complete the auto-forwarding process.

Once you are done following the above-mentioned instructions, you will be able to receive incoming emails from your Cox email account to your Gmail account.
