How to Recover Forgot iCloud Password?

Forgot iCloud password doesn’t mean that you will never be able to log into your email account.  If you ever forgot iCloud password or if it ever gets hacked, you can easily regain access to your account by following the step-by-step instructions provided below.

3 Steps to Recover Forgot iCloud Password

NOTE: Instructions may vary on the type of security feature that you use for your Apple ID.

Email, Password, and Security Questions

1.) Go to your Apple ID account page https://appleid.apple.com/ and click on the “Forgot Apple ID or Password” option. If prompted to confirm your phone number, you can use the steps for two-factor authentication(mentioned below).

2.) Next, enter your Apple ID and select the option to reset password for your account. Then, click on the Continue button.

3.) Then select how you wish to reset a password for your account:

• If you wish to answer to your security questions, simply select the option “Answer security questions” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.
• If you wish to get email instead of above option, select the option “Get an email.” To reset password, just follow the instructions in the email sent to your primary or alternate email address.
• In case you are prompted for a Recovery Key, you will need to use the steps for two-factor authentication or two-step verification(given below).

Two-Factor Authentication

If you have enabled two-factor authentication on your Apple ID, you can reset the password for your iCloud email account using any trusted device such as iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or Mac with a password or passcode which is activated.

NOTE: Make sure that your device has iOS 10 or above version.

Forgot iCloud password Recovery On iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad

1.) On your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, go to the Settings app icon.

2.) Next, tap on Your Name>Password & Security>Change Password.

3.) After that, simply follow the on-screen prompts to update the password for your iCloud email account.

4.) In case you are using an iOS 10.2 or earlier version, tap on iCloud >Your Name>Password & Security >Change Password, and then follow the on-screen prompts to update your password.

Forgot iCloud password Recovery On Mac

1.) Go to the Apple menu on your Mac and select System Preferences. Then, click on the iCloud option.

2.) Next, select Account Details. When prompted to enter your Apple ID password, click “Forgot Apple ID or password” option.

3.) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the password reset process.

Using Recovery Key

If you have RecoveryKey and if you have updated your Apple ID from two-step verification to two-factor authentication in your iOS 11 and above, or MacOS High Sierra and above, you can reset password for your iCloud Email account using the recovery key.

Unable to access any of your iOS devices?

If you can’t access any of your iOS devices, you can borrow it from someone and follow the below given steps:

1.) Launch the Find My iPhone app.

2.) When the Sign-in screen appears on the iOS device, make sure that the Apple ID field is empty. If it isn’t, clear it.

3.) Now, tap on the Forgot Apple ID or Password option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the password reset process.

Two Step Verification

1.) On your Apple ID account page, click on the “Forgot Apple ID or password” option. If prompted to confirm your phone number, you will need to use steps for “Two-factor authentication” mentioned above.

2.) Now, enter your Apple ID and select the “reset your password” option.

3.) Then, click Continue and enter your recovery key for two-step verification.

4.) Select a trusted device. You will get a verification code on it.

5.) Enter the verification code on the next screen and you will be allowed to reset the password.

6.) After that, simple sign-in again with your new password to access your iCloud email account.
