How to Sync Google Contacts On Android and iPhone?

Synching your Google contacts across devices lets you have easy access to all your contacts whether you are working in your office computer or you are out on vacation. When you make your Google contacts sync with your Android or iPhone device, any changes you make to the Google contacts or to the contacts of your Android or iOS device, the changes get reflected in the linked device or account. This way you won’t have to update the contact on a device or account manually each time you need make changes to your contact.

Steps to Sync Google Contacts With Android

While adding your Google account to your Android phone or tablet automatically syncs your Google contacts with the Android device, you can follow these steps to sync your Google contacts.

1.) On your Android device, open the application menu and tap on the Settings app icon. You will be directed to the Settings app screen.

2.) Under the Settings app screen, scroll down and tap on the Accounts option. You will be directed to the list of accounts associated with your Android device.

3.) From the list that appears on your screen, tap on the Google option. You will be directed to your Google account associated with your Android device.

NOTE:

  • If you don’t have a Google account added to your Android device, simply tap on the + Add account, then tap on the Google option and follow the on-screen prompts to add or create a new Google account.
  • However, if you have multiple Google account associated with your Android device, you will need to select the appropriate Google account from the list.

4.) As you will tap on your Google account, you will see the list of items available for sync such as Calendar, Chrome, Contacts, Drive, Gmail, Google Fit etc.

5.) To sync your Google contacts with your Android device, simply tap on the slider icon next to Contacts to activate it for your Android device. Activating the slider will start syncing your Google contacts with the contacts or address book app of your Android device.

Steps to Sync Google Contacts with iPhone

1.) On your iPhone or iPad, tap on the Settings app icon from the applications menu. You will be taken to the Settings app screen.

2.) Under Settings screen, tap on the Accounts & Passwords.

3.) Under Accounts & Passwords section, you will need to tap on the Add Account option.

4.) Next, you will need to select the Google option from the list and enter your Gmail address and password in the prompted fields. After that, tap on the Nextoption.

NOTE: In case you use two-step verification for your Google account, you will need to use an app password.

5.) On the next screen, you will see the option to start syncing your Google contacts with iPhone. Simply turn on the Contact synchronization. After that, tap on the Save button located at the top to save the changes.

In case your Google contacts don’t sync even when you have activated the sync option, you need to follow these steps:

  • Go to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap on the Contacts option and then on the Accounts
  • Next, select your Google account and make sure that Contacts syncing is enabled.
  • After that, tap on the Account option and go to the Advanced
  • Turn on Use SSL option, tap on the Account option and then on the Done
