5 Simple Ways to Migrate from Gmail to Fastmail

Once you have got hold of any plan, you are good to go with the following steps.

1) Set up Your Email Address and/or Domain: Begin with the first step – setting up your email. You need to sign up with the email address that you wish to use with Fastmail. Don’t have your domain? You may like to use one of Fastmail’s domains and select an email address. If you already have your own domain, you can transfer your mail accounts, domain, and aliases to Fastmail by following the Fastmail’s domain and the email migration guide.

2) Transfer Your Mail: Is it possible to transfer all important emails to your Fastmail from Gmail? Yes, it is. This is a one-time task. Here’s how you can do it –

  • Go to the Fastmail “Settings – Import & Setup” screen.
  • Click on the icon for Gmail under “Import”.
  • Next, log in to your Gmail account and click “Allow” when a pop-up turns up – “Fastmail wants to access your Google Account”.
  • Choose what you want to transfer and click on the option “Do It”.

The import process might take a few minutes. So, wait and don’t do anything else. Upon completion, you will be notified. You can now start another migration if you want.

3) Transfer Your Calendars:

  • Go to the “Settings – Import & Setup” screen.
  • Click on the icon for Gmail under “Import”.

  • Choose what you want to transfer. Here, you will select “Calendars”.

Although the process might take some time, it wouldn’t be a problem using your account as normal.
