When you create a YouTube account, you are required to connect it with your Google account. If you already have a Google account, you must be already having a YouTube account. If you don’t have a YouTube account, you can easily get it by registering for a YouTube account. Before you start following the information provided below, it is to be noted that the YouTube channel is connected to an account automatically. And, there are two different types of accounts provided on YouTube:

  • Google Account: You will need to have a Google Account to log in to YouTube. The name of your channel is going to be the same as your Google Account.
  • Brand Account: A Brand Account is an account that is provided exclusively for your brand. This account is a bit different from your personal Google account. In case you have linked your channel to a Brand Account, multiple users are allowed to manage it from their respective Google Accounts.

Now, to know how to move your channel to another email account, you will need to go through the steps provided below.

  1. To begin with, you will first need to sign in to your YouTube account on a computer web browser.
  2. Once you are logged into your YouTube account, you will need to click on your Profile Picture option located in the upper-right corner. This will open a drop-down menu on your screen.
  3. From the drop-down menu, you will need to click on the Switch account option. This will further expand the menu on your screen.
  4. You will now need to log in to the account associated with the channel you are looking to move.


Makes sure that you are logged in to the Google Account linked with the channel you want to transfer. For example, if you are looking to transfer the channel linked with your Google Account to yourBrand Account, you will need to ensure that you are logged into your Google Account for this step.

In case the account you are looking to select is already linked with a YouTube channel, you will need to click on the Delete channel option located in the box that appears on your screen. This will delete the channel which is already linked with that account. This implies that any content linked with this channel will be deleted permanently. The content will include messages, videos, comments, history, and playlists.

8) You can then check how will your channel name appear after the transfer, and then click on the Move channel option.

NOTE: This will remove delete any current channel (along with all of its videos and clips) which could be linked already with the account that you are transferring to. You will also need to note that some content will not be transferable; this includes -Comments made by the channel, Messages (sent and received), automated filter community settings, and verification badges. You will be provided a warning notification if your channel has any content. In case you have a custom URL, it will not be transferred to your new channel.
