Steps to Configure the BellSouth Email Settings for Windows 10 Mail

  1. To begin with, you will first need to press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start menu. From the Start menu, you will need to select the Mail application. If you don’t find the Mail app listed in the Start menu, you can simply type “Mail” to allows the Start menu to find the app.
  2. Once you have opened the Mail application on your Windows 10 computer, you will see a Welcome page on your screen if this is the first time you are opening the Mail application.
  3. From the main screen of the Mail app, you will need to select the Add Account option to begin the configuration process. In case you have used the Mail application earlier as well, you will need to select the Settings option (Gear icon) located at the bottom of the left-hand side navigation pane, and then select the Manage Accounts option from the drop-down menu.

NOTE: if you are using a phone or tablet, you will need to tap on the three dots located at the bottom of the page to access Settings.

4) Next, you will need to select the Add account option under the Manage Accounts option.  Doing so will provide a list of email services to choose from. The list is most likely to be as follows:

  • Outlook.com (Outlook.com, Live.com, Hotmail, MSN)
  • Exchange (Exchange, office 365)
  • Google
  • Yahoo!
  • iCloud
  • Other account POP, IMAP

NOTE:

  • You might have to scroll down the Add an account dialog box to check all the options.
  • In case you are looking to set up Google, you may need to sign in to your Google account, provided a two-step verification code (if you have enabled this security feature), and allow your permission to Windows to access your information. Simply click Allow and your account will be created.
  • In case you are using another email account like iCloud, Yahoo, QQ, or GMX.de, or Web.de, you may need to follow certain special instructions.

 

5) As BellSouth email is not appearing in the above-mentioned list, you will need to select the Other account POP, IMAP option. You will be directed to the next screen.

6) On the next screen, you will need to enter your BellSouth email account address in the Email address field. Next, you will need to enter the preferred name that you wish to use for your “sending” name in the “Send your messages using this name” field and then enter your Password in the prompted field.

7) After you are done entering the required information in the provided fields, you will need to press the Sign in option. Then, simply press the Done button, and you are done. 8) In Step 5 (mentioned above), you will need to select the Advanced setup option instead of Other account POP, IMAP. Next, you will need to select Exchange ActiveSync if your administrator has instructed you to use Exchange ActiveSync. Otherwise, you will need to select the Internet email option.

 9) Then, you will need to enter the following in the Advanced setup window.

  • Email address: This is the name that’ll appear in the left-hand side pane of the Mail application.
  • Username: Enter your complete email address
  • Password: Enter your email account password.
  • Account Name: This is going to be the name that you will appear on the left-hand side of the Mail for Windows 10.
  • Send your messages using this name: Enter the desired name that you wish to make appear to the recipient when receiving your emails.
  • Incoming email server: Refer to the BellSouth email settings provided above.
  • Account type: Choose POP3 or IMAP
  • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: Refer to the BellSouth email settings provided above.

10) Once you are done providing the required information with correct settings, you can complete the configuration process by following the on-screen instructions. Your BellSouth email account will be configured on Windows 10 Mail application.
