GMX Email Could Not Be Sent How to Fix?

There can be numerous reasons due to which you might not be able to send email from your GMX email account. While sometimes the problem can be occurring because of misconfiguration of your GMX email account on a third-party email program, or the recipient has blocked your email address. 1) Check the Internet Connection

The first thing you will need to ensure is that your internet network is functioning properly. Any interruptions or issues with your internet connection may lead to a problem sending an email from your GMX email account.

2) Check the Size of The Attachment of your GMX Email Message

If you are looking at add any files or documents to your email as an attachment, it is important to ensure that size of the attachment is less than 100 MB. File exceeding the 100MB size (including email) will not be allowed to be sent through GMX email.

3) Remove Faulty Add-Ons or Plugins

If you are accessing your GMX email account using a web browser on your computer or other devices, make sure that your browser is not having any faulty extension installed that could prevent GMX from function properly. To check this, you can consider opening your GMX email account in a private browsing window to send an email. When you open a private browsing window on your browser, add-ons and plug-ins are unable to be effective for the tab. If you are able to send an email in the private browsing window, this means that the problem is most likely with a browser enhancement. In such a case, you will need to disable each browser enhancement (one at a time) to find the one causing the problem.

4) Check Firewall Settings and Antivirus Programs

If you are accessing your GMX email account using a third-party email program like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, make sure that the firewall settings or an antivirus program installed on your program are blocking any port or the email program entirely from performing properly. To check that, you can disable the firewall settings and antivirus program (one at a time). If you find that a firewall setting or antivirus program to be causing the issue, consider creating an exception for the email program to overcome the problem. However, it is to be noted that creating an exception for any application makes that particular application vulnerable to malicious threats.

5) Set Up Your GMX Email Account on an Email Program with Correct Settings

If you are accessing your GMX email account using an email program and you have checked that the problem of not being able to send a message is not getting caused by the firewall settings or antivirus program, it is recommended to make sure that you have configured your GMX email account on the email program using correct email settings.

NOTE: The following steps to configure a GMX email account on an email program are provided for Outlook. The steps may vary depending on the email program and version you are using.

  • Launch your Outlook email program and click on the File option. In the expanded menu, you will need to select the Information option from the submenu and then select the Add account option.
  • Next, you will need to select the Manual setup or additional server types option and press the Next button.
  • Then, you will need to select thePOP or IMAP option press the Next button.
  • On the next screen, you will need to enter your name and email address in the provided field and make the following changes:
  • Select POP3 as the Account Type.
  • In the Incoming mail server, you will need to enter pop.gmx.com
  • In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP), you will need to enter mail.gmx.com.
  • In the LogonInformation section, enter your username and password in the relevant fields.
  • Then, you will need to deselect the checkbox next to Test Account Settings option by clicking on the Next button.
  • Now, you will need to select the More Settings option. This will direct you to the next screen where you will need to go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Under the Outgoing Server tab, you will need to select the checkbox next to the following options on your screen:
    • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
    • Use same settings as my incoming mail server”.
  • Next, you will need to open the Advanced tab where you will need to make these changes

Enter 995 in the Incoming server (POP3) field.

Select the checkbox next to the “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)” option

Enter 587 in Outgoing server (SMTP).

Select theTLSoption for the “Use the following type of encrypted connection” option.

In case you want to keep a copy of your email to store in your GMX mailbox, you will need to select the checkbox next to the “Leave a copy of messages on the server” option.

  • After that, you will need to press the OK button, and then press the Next button.
  • Finally, you will need to click on the Finish button. You will then find that your GMX mail has been configured to your Outlook email program correctly. You can try your email account by sending a “Text email” to your email address.
