• Launch Thunderbird and go to “Local Folders” to create a folder.
• Select the folder, right-click on it, and click “ImportExportTools”.
• Now, select “Import all messages”.
• Navigate to the .eml files folder. (C:UsersAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live Mail is the default location of Windows Live Mail. If you wish, change the folder option to “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” to be able to see the folder “App Data”.)
• Next, click on the “Open” option.

How to Import Windows Live Mail Contacts to Thunderbird?

Perform the following steps to import Windows Live Mail contacts to Thunderbird.

How to Export Contacts from Windows Live Mail (Outlook)?

Before you perform the following steps to export contacts from Windows Live Mail, here’s a thing that you should know. A copy of your contacts is saved to a CSV file or other file type when the users export their contacts from Outlook.

• Launch Outlook and go to “File”.
• Here, you will see the “Open & Export” option.
• Click on it and navigate to “Import/ Export” (Import or export files and settings).
• A new page (Import and Export Wizard) will open. You need to choose an action to perform. Select “Export to a file”.
• Click on the “Next” option.
• Here, you need to select “Comma Separated Values”.
• On the next screen/ box “Select folder to export from”, select “Contacts”. It will have several folders.
• Click on the “Next” button.
• Select the “Browse” option and click on the “OK” button.
• After confirming the location for your new contacts file, click “Next”.

• Check the new .csv file on your computer and make sure all your contacts are intact. (Don’t panic if you come across empty cells. This is just normal.)
• Use Excel to update the information in your .csv file.

Have you borrowed a computer with Outlook from a friend? In that case, you should always remove your account from his/ her version of Windows Live Mail (Outlook). The steps to remove your account are as follows –

• Launch Outlook and go to the “File” tab.
• Now, select “Account Settings” > “Account Settings”.
• To get rid of an account, select it.
• Click on the “Remove” button.
• Choose “Close”.

Your contacts are copied. Import them to another desktop with Outlook for Windows on it. You can also import the contacts to another email service.
